Personal Fitness
Flames Fitness is the only facility of
its kind. We offer you all the benefits
of having your own personal trainer for
a fraction of the cost.
We provide one trainer for every five
members in the gym, but your workout session
is not with a group. Instead the trainer
works with you according to your personal
program while supervising your technique
and monitoring your progress. While you
are resting between stations and/or sets,
the trainer can work with others.
Our trainers are all experienced and
qualified to help you achieve your goals.
We cater for a variety of needs including
injury rehabilitation,
strength training, fat loss, flexibility
and much more.
Tailored programs

Tailored programs are developed for you
based on your needs and goals.
We begin with a fitness assessment, which
is designed to establish your goals and
how they can best be achieved. We discuss
diet if required and also your habits
outside of the gym. We will then test
some elements of your fitness which may
include flexibility and range of movement
tests, strength tests, and body fat testing.
The assessment takes approximately 1
hour.
A program is then developed that targets
your specific needs. Your program stays
on file at Flames.
Depending on your needs, a personal program
could be developed that may comprise a
mix of cardiovascular
and resistance
training. Your program will also increase
your flexibility.
Your nutritional
requirements will be discussed and
taken into account.
Depending on your goals, boxing
circuits may also be included in your
program.
Sample program
Everybody and every body is different
and the simple fact is that there is no
one program that is perfect for everyone.
Also, any program you start should be
modified at least every 10 weeks to encourage
continued adaptation and prevent plateaus.
The following illustrates a possible
basic fat loss program. This should be
regarded as a sample only,as any program designed at Flames
fitness is designed for each member separately.

Exercises
|
Some strength exercise incorporating all major muscle
groups, this is to help increase metabolic rate. Some aerobic
based exercise with the primary objective being to increase
calorie output therefore a variety of activities could be
utilised.

Workout sessions
Workout sessions are organised on a booking
basis. You come to the gym at times that
are convenient to you.
This serves two purposes. The first is
to ensure there is enough room in the
gym for everyone who is training. The
second is to get you to commit to training
regularly. If you do not show up then
expect a phone call. We want you to achieve
what you set out to, and we don't mind
if this means that we have to be on your
case!!
There is no limit to how many times you
can come to the gym each week, but please
discuss the optimum number for your program
with one of our trainers. From here on
all you have to do is show up. We will
instruct you 100% of the way. At Flames
you are not left to your own devices,
that way we can ensure you are doing the
right things, progressing at an appropriate
rate, working hard enough and not injuring
yourself.
We keep you motivated
You've paid for a better service and
you'll get it! Here's how we keep you
motiviated:
- Your trainer will work with you during
your session, providing encouragement
and challenges from time to time.
- We will adjust your weights and/or
increase the intensity of your cardio
sessions as we see you progressing and
getting fitter.
- If you miss sessions we will phone
you to get you in!
- If you've had a long break from your
program (for example, more than 3 days)
we will phone you.
- We can provide progress checks at
regular intervals. This way we can let
you know how close you are to achieving
your goals. It also allows us to adjust
your program if necessary.
Membership
Our membership periods are for 5 or 10
weeks. This seems like a short period
but the benefit of this is that you will
achieve your results in stages. You won't
over-commit yourself. Your program and
results can be assessed regularly. Physiologically,
your body's nervous system will plateau
between 8-12 weeks so starting again each
10 weeks with a new program will prevent
this plateau.
Fees
As of 1st of April 2007 the membership fees
are as follows (all prices are inclusive
of GST), all memberships include assessment; program; unlimited
training; and a trainer assisting you every session.
